Finding the Future of the New Zealand Food & Beverage Industry

What is the future of F&B production in New Zealand? It is unlikely that more land will come into production, but what is the opportunity for more output per hectare and more value per tonne? New Zealand’s food & beverage exports are currently still over-weighted to low value-added, unprocessed ingredients.  In practice, growth will require some sectors to grow much larger, as other sectors have growth constraints.  There is a clear opportunity to add value in New Zealand.
