Regional Growth Opportunities
F&B Across the regions: outcomes and opportunities
Regional Growth Opportunities is a series and part of the wider Food & Beverage Information Project (iFAB). The New Zealand food production system has evolved over many years to be a highly efficient producer of a few major commodities, with growth based on increasing volumes, and relentless productivity improvements. As in many countries farms are getting bigger and fewer people overall are employed. At the same time, over the last two decades, the number of food processing firms has increased by 50% and more than 13,500 jobs have been created. This series looks across the 12 regions of New Zealand and provides a foundation for analysis. The reports benchmarks relative performance between regions to identify gaps and provides clear input into regional strategies. The Series includes a close up look at Northland and Taranaki and identifies three Horizons for growth for each region.
